Security
Trust you can verify.
Building safety records have to stand up for decades. GTE is built so every entry is verified, signed and permanently preserved — giving owners, regulators and contractors a record they can rely on.
Why It Matters
A safety record is only as good as its integrity
Records outlive everyone
Contractors finish, teams change and buildings are sold. The evidence has to remain reliable long after the people who created it have moved on.
Most systems allow edits
Spreadsheets, shared drives and many compliance tools let records be overwritten or backdated — with no way to tell what was there before.
The bar has been raised
After Grenfell, “we think it was done” is no longer enough. Duty holders need to prove what was done, by whom and when.
The GTE Ledger
A black box for the built environment
At the core of GTE is an encrypted, Git-based ledger — the same principle that keeps the world's software code trustworthy, applied to building safety. Once evidence is recorded, it cannot be altered or deleted.
- Every entry is fingerprinted
- Each record carries a unique digital fingerprint, generated from its contents.
- Every entry is chained
- Each fingerprint is linked to the one before it, so the whole history is locked together in sequence.
- Tamper-evident by design
- Any attempt to change a past record breaks the chain and is immediately detectable. Updates are added as new entries — the original is never lost.
- Integrity without the overhead
- The assurance of blockchain-style technology, without the cost and complexity on the client side.

Chain of Custody
Protected at every hand-off
Integrity doesn't start at storage. GTE protects evidence from the moment it's captured to the moment it's recorded.
- 01
Verified at capture
Evidence is cryptographically verified on site, fixing when and where it was recorded.
- 02
Validated
AI-assisted checks confirm the evidence is complete and meets the standard before it goes any further.
- 03
Signed
A competent, named person approves it with a digital signature.
- 04
Recorded
The approved entry is written permanently to the GTE Ledger.
Data Protection
Secure, UK-hosted and access-controlled
Your building safety information is sensitive. GTE keeps it protected, in the UK, and visible only to the people who need it.
Encrypted
Building safety data held in GTE is encrypted, including the ledger at the core of the platform.
Hosted in the UK
GTE runs on Amazon Web Services, with your data held in the UK.
Role-based access
Permissions are set by role, so owners, contractors, managers and regulators each see the right information — and nothing more.
Every action attributable
Every submission, approval and change is tied to a named user, giving a clear line of accountability.
Your Data
Your record belongs to you
The golden thread exists to serve the building and the people responsible for it. That principle shapes how we handle your data.
You own your data
Building safety information you create in GTE remains yours. Subscribers can export their records.
AI training by permission only
We never use your data to train our AI models without your explicit, written agreement.
An open system
GTE is built for interoperability — designed to share information with other systems and regulators, not lock it away.
Ready to hand over
When a building changes hands, its complete, verifiable safety history can go with it.
